So here I am again, it's about 4:12 a.m. and I am writing a blog. What is different though is I kind of have a reason for writing this blog ( as if I am writing to stop some major catastrophe). So I decided to look up some covers of songs, like I do alot, because of course I am a big fan of cover songs, I don't they have intrest me seeing a song or a story from someone else point of view ( which is kind of hypocritical to the whole point of this blog). So of course I went to Yellowcard's performence of Don't You Forget About Me at the 2003 VMA's( one of the few good things to come fake award shows.) It is to me one of the best performences of any song ever, it mixes what is an amazing song with with clips that just seem to fit perfectly with how they are playing it. Every time I see it, I have to fight back tears knowing that we as a world will never see a Hughes film again. Breakfast Club is one of my favorite movies of all time, but I think putting it like that is putting it lightly. Breakfast Club is one of the few movies that I can say is more then a movie to me ( a really short list for me), it's a movie that just brings up so much amazing, painful, confusing, and changing memories for me. I honestly think that it's John Hughes Magnum Opus, though basiclay all of his films are classics ( his is honestly one of the few filmmakers or storytellers to ever get how young adults are) Breakfast Club is a film were everything just seems to align so perfectly. The cast is amazing, the dialouge is realistic to the point were even the 80s talk doesn't bother me, music of course is amazing, there are very few things wrong with this movie. The movie to me just showed me an important message of life really, life sucks sometimes. Through out high school no matter what problem I went through I knew that somebody was going to be there for me going through the same thing. It also taught me the age old lesson of not judging a book by it's cover, who gives a shit if someone is a geek and your a jock, people are people and to deny someone the same respect you ask for is a terrible thing. So to get to my point, I have come to a conclusion that Breakfast Club is one of the few movies that should never be remade. Now I'm some film snab saying that no film should ever be remade. I mean granted there are many films that probably shouldn't be remade, but I will give them a chance, I mean everybody was saying that remaking Dawn of the Dead was a terrible idea, but look what happened we got what I think is one of the best zombie movies ever made. The Thomas Crown Affair, Ocean's Eleven, The Fly, Scareface, The Thing all examples of why remakes work when done right. But to me John Hughe's films in general are just forbidden ground. I mean can you honestly see anyone else but Molly as Samantha Baker, or how about Shia as Bender ( scary thought, no offense Shia I seem to be one of the few people left who still likes you) or and I shutter thinking this Michael Cera as Brian Johnson. Hell I can't think of anyone else as Keith Nelson besides Eric Stoltz he was that character. I heard already ( take that as more of a rumor because these things float around all the time) that they were thinking about remaking Ferris Buller's Day Off. The fact that they would even think about touching that film makes me worry about Planes, Trains, and Automobiles ( favorite Hughes film). But realisticly to me all of those besides maybe Ferris and Planes, all of those could be remade and I think that I would be fine with it. But Breakfast Club is unremakeable. Any attempt to remake it will fail, I'm not doubting any actor todays talents, but it would be like someone going back to remake Jaws or Monty Python and the Holy Grail. You have something that will be remembered by generations for being so great that in a way it surpassed it genre and should be on the list of greatest films ever made. To even try and remake would tarnish the romantizism of it a little bit. Really that's all I got to say about that. Oh and why has no one tried a Midnight Run remake, that is one thing I would love to write, there is a film that is pretty good amd the remake with some of the amazing actors we have today, WOW I am having goosebumps thinking about it, sorry for the little geek out.
See you later
